Sustainable supply chains not effective
Sustainability is the top priority for UK supply chain professionals but a narrow focus and fear of collaboration are hindering real progress, a new study has revealed.
The Oracle research, conducted by future trends consultancy, highlighted the transformation that sustainable business practices are having on worldwide supply chains.
The report discovered that UK professionals with supply chain jobs express confidence in their current sustainability policies; however, global experts question whether they are comprehensive or effective enough.
Dave Food, supply chain director, Oracle UK, said: "Supply chain operations must understand that it is vital they have in place flexible systems that can adapt as the principles of sustainable and collaborative business practices become established."
In September, the software developer Barloworld Optimus suggested that managing risk is likely to be the major focus of the supply chain industry this century.
