Rockwool joins eco-procurement group
The insulation firm Rockwool has joined the Green Procurement Group, set up by the builders' merchant Jewson.
The Green Procurement Group currently has 12 members who have all made a commitment to deliver greater transparency in the supply chain, introduce carbon labelling and reduce packaging by 20 per cent.
The group, which also includes Velux, Fisher Fixings, Visqueen Building Products, Hepworth Building Products, Henderson, ICI and Tarmac, aims to deliver a reduction in the industry's carbon footprint with these measures.
"It's about time the construction industry cleaned up its act, the amount of material waste and surplus packaging in the industry is beyond acceptable," said Hans Schreuder, managing director of Rockwool.
Rockwool is the UK's leading manufacturer of mineral wool insulation for thermal, fire and acoustic protection.
