Boeing procures US military deal
Boeing has revealed that it has procured a contract valued at £2.1 billion to supply the US army with helicopters.
The global aircraft manufacturer has announced details of the deal, which includes a five-year procurement agreement for 181 aircraft, valued at £1.8 billion, as well as an initial option for ten more helicopters at £108 million.
In total Boeing expect to supply the US army with 191 CH-47F Chinook helicopters, plus options for 24 additional twin-rotor Chinooks over the next few years.
Jack Dougherty, vice president of Boeing's H47 programs, said in a statement: "This builds security into our production schedule for the next five years, stabilizing the work force for Boeing and for our supplier partners in more than 45 states."
Boeing is the largest aircraft manufacturer in the world in terms of revenue, orders and deliveries, while it is also the second-largest aerospace and defense contractor.
