Procurement jobs victory for third party supplier
A strategic outsourcing and asset management firm has successfully procured a major security contract.
Following a hotly contested tendering process, Mitie declared victory in its bid to supply its services to the Port of Felixstowe in Suffolk.
Under the terms of the contract, the company will support the port's 60-strong police force which provide 24-hour security across the site.
Head of Mitie's transport security team, Tony Medhurst, said: "The provision of effective security at UK ports is essential in protecting the critical national infrastructure.
"We're delighted to be working with the local management team and the Port of Felixstowe to support them in creating a safe, secure environment for all staff and visitors."
Due to the large scale of the work, it is possible that a number of new procurement jobs will be created for the contract.
Earlier this week, Little Chef announced that it had appointed digital print specialists ProCo to manage its new procurement strategy.
