New EU regulations could affect procurement jobs
European Union regulations could have a major impact on the UK procurement industry, according to one organisation.
Experts at the project delivery specialists 4ps have advised local government authorities and procurement firms to make sure they are up to date with changes to business law.
Implications which now need to be considered include advertising and inviting tenders for contracts which do not fall inside mainstream European Union procurement regulations, such as sporting and cultural services.
Legal director for 4ps, Rob Hann, commented: "It is very important to acknowledge and act upon the developments which have taken place in the public procurement environment.
"We urge local authorities involved in procurement to take note of the developments outlined in our guidance."
One of the effects that the changes could have on the industry is a rise in demand for skilled professionals to fill procurement jobs, but only time will tell on this front.
Earlier this week, the London Organising Committee for the Olympic Games urged companies to enter the tendering process for the 2012 event.
