Small firms urged to bid for 2012 procurement jobs
Olympic contracts are currently being procured to small businesses all over the country, according to one official behind the Games.
While the London 2012 Olympics may be more than three and a half years away, businesses are being urged to bid for contracts now.
With more than £3.5 billion worth of work already having been procured, the London Organising Committee for the Olympic Games (LOGOC) has warned companies to be quick if they wish to take part.
Richard Mould, head of procurement for the LOCOG, told the Northern Echo: "Contracts are being awarded now, and it would be a massive shame if businesses missed out on them through ignorance or inactivity."
He added that the organisation had tried to make the procurement process as simple as possible, but in the end it was up to businesses themselves to take the necessary steps.
Recently, the Federation of Small Businesses claimed that opening up the public sector tendering process could improve the economy, as well as create more procurement jobs.
