Health insurer 'transforms' supply chain process
A major health insurer has employed innovative technological processes to streamline its supply chain and procurement processes.
Utilising software provided by IT services firm Wipro, the Health Care Service Corporation (HCSC) aims to get better control and visibility on its expenditure and drive efficiencies through its sourcing and procurement organisations.
Using the technology, HCSC expected to reduce its costs by up to 30 per cent by allowing system configuration, customisation and retrofitting to be performed remotely.
Srinivas Sai, global head of supply chain management practise at the software provider, said: "Wipro is continuously developing innovative solutions to help drive non-linear benefits to our clients.
"The benefits accrued to our customers from this unique supply chain transformation and implementation model validate our efforts."
The increasing use of such technologies could also affect the industry by opening up more supply chain jobs in the profession.
Computing.co.uk revealed earlier this week that renowned tea and coffee producer Taylors of Harrogate had begun implementing advanced scheduling utilities in a bid to improve its supply chain processes.
