Workers in procurement jobs help review media spend

10-03-2010

The Co-operative Group has revealed how its employees in procurement jobs are helping it undertake a review of its media spending.

Its media planning and buying account, believed to be worth around £60 million, is currently under review after it acquired Somerfield.

Patrick Allen, the Co-operative's marketing director, highlighted that the move had led the company to take a step back and see which aspects need to be altered.

"The review is driven by the significant level of change and growth within our business and is no reflection upon the service currently received by the incumbent provider, Rocket," he stressed.

He assured consumers and stakeholders that any decisions made by those in procurement jobs would be in their best interests.

The Co-operative Group encompasses a range of services from food to banking and reported an annual turnover of £9.4 billion and 87,000 employees in 2007.
