Procurement professionals' main business travel concern is cost

09-02-2010

Cost is still the main business travel concern for professionals working in procurement jobs.

However, according to a survey conducted at the Business Travel Show in London by the Association of Corporate Travel Executives (ACTE) and KDS, 57 per cent of business executives and procurement professionals said their firms have not cut back their corporate social responsibility programmes in the wake of the recession.

Meanwhile, 46 per cent said environmental sustainability is still a mid-tier corporate concern, with 46 per cent citing it as an important issue.

Globally, UK business managers fared well in terms of the 'greenness' of their travel choices, with 51 per cent of those surveyed saying they set a good example – compared to 39 per cent in the US and 45 per cent in France.

President of ACTE Richard Crum said: "It is a great relief to see that corporate social responsibility remains a strong priority for many corporations, and an equally strong concern for travellers, who are making an effort to reduce their impact on the planet."

According to a recent report published by the Carbon Disclosure Project, companies are beginning to take their environmental responsibilities seriously.
