Procurement jobs: Candidates told to tailor CV

26-07-2010

People applying for procurement jobs may wish to tailor their CV for the position, after it was claimed that jobseekers ought to be targeted in their applications.

Keith Potts, chief executive of Jobsite.co.uk, claims that it is worth taking a little bit of extra time to make sure the application fits the job description.

"Make clear on your covering letter/application/CV that you have the skills & experience that the job requires and ensure that each application is tailored specifically for that job," he explained.

He added that preparing for interview can make all the difference, as can getting an edge over other candidates by getting work experience or doing voluntary work.

HR Magazine reported recently on a new survey from MyWorkSearch that found that over half of jobseekers are facing six months or more without a job and 30 per cent have been unemployed for more than 12 months.

The survey also found that more than a third of jobseekers have made over 100 applications.
