Procurement capabilities aid carbon capture alliance
10-03-2010
Babcock & Wilcox Power Generation Group and Fluor Corporation have joined forces on a new carbon capture project, with procurement capabilities one of the main reasons behind the collaboration.
The firms have joined up to market CO2 capture systems at coal-fired power plants throughout the US and Canada.
Both companies will collaborate in order to issue construction and procurement services, alongside engineering and commissioning to make the project a success.
"Our combined efforts will position both companies to better serve our power clients in the carbon capture market," noted Dave Dunning, Fluor's Power group president.
He said that the strengths of both businesses would be played upon to ensure customers get the value they deserve.
According to an Environmental Audit Committee report, the management of a carbon budget is as vital as that of the fiscal budget.
It requires the same level of political attention, civil service commitment, and parliamentary scrutiny, the report stated.
