Head of Procurement

The Role

Our client, Weetabix is the leading British breakfast cereal company and is home to a range of famous brands including Weetabix, Alpen, Ready Brek, Weetaflakes, Weetos, Crunchy Bran and the hugely popular Alpen Bars. Weetabix , a family favourite enjoyed by generations of families is the UK’s leading breakfast cereal.

The business is undergoing a period of significant change and recently completed a strategic review of its procurement activities. As a result, a category management approach to procurement is now being implemented in line with best practice. This will cover both direct and indirect goods and services.

To deliver and refine this process, an opportunity now exists for a Head of Procurement. Leading a small team whilst also retaining procurement responsibility for key ingredients responsibilities will include;

• Development and implementation of a 3 year procurement strategy to support the business objectives and future organisational challenges
• Enhancement of best practice tools and processes
• Leadership and performance management in order to create a professional and strategically focused team, who are empowered and motivated to add value
• Embed sourcing technology tools
• Lead cross functional cost reduction through innovation teams as well as taking an active role in new product development.

Candidate Requirements

The successful candidate will have experience in developing and owning their own category plans and strategies, as well as a strong awareness of buying key ingredients and raw materials, preferably within the cereal business, with a proven track record in team management.

This is a high profile role and to be successful you will require drive, maturity, initiative and strong leadership qualities.
