Regional Head of Indirect Purchasing – Central and Eastern Europe

The Role

Our client, with sales of $7bn, is regarded as very successful within their industry as they develop exceptional products that are affordable and accessible to a large proportion of users throughout the world.  While contributing to developing stability in healthcare systems globally and free up resources for new and innovative medicines. With over a 100 year legacy the company pride themselves as being able to develop innovative, complex and affordable solutions in patient care, while taking advantage of a being part of a truly global organisation with sales in the region of $40bn.

This is an opportunity to lead the region of Central European Procurement including Russia, Slovenia and Poland, with a number of smaller affiliate/sales operations within this cluster. Holding a supervisor capacity you will be indirectly managing a team and seen as a manager’s manager – leading through example and working closely with country heads within the region.

Reporting into the global CPO, the role will be managing and influencing a spend of c$500m, within an organisation that has a total spend of c$1.2bn. With dual responsibility the successful candidate will work across division and corporate group.

You will be encouraged to deliver maximum commercial benefit through demand reduction, process improvements and price reductions initiatives, while ensuring solutions are sustainable and fit for purpose, as you will be responsible through the implementation of overall strategy, providing effective processes and systems. You will be seen as a key contributor to the procurement team and its overall effectiveness.
 

Candidate Requirements

This is a role that will suit a tenacious, engaging and interpersonally strong individual as there will be a large degree of ‘winning hearts and minds’. With a pace that is most likely come from the consumer goods sector you will need to effectively influence and work with stakeholders cross functionally to ensure buy in and their needs are met.

Success will be measured by a combination of quantitative and qualitative feedback including:

• Achievement of regional savings targets
• Key Stakeholder feedback
• Global supplier performance and delivery
• Increase Procurement effectiveness (realize the benefits of productivity and process improvements such as outsourcing, cross-divisional category management, etc.)
• Share of volume through e-sourcing and through low-cost country sourcing
• Availability of up-to-date reports and analyses
• Compliance to mandated processes and guidelines
